I was reading through many articles and watching many programs targeted at improving love and relationships. Many of the tips I learnt from these forums I will like to share here with you.
1. Appreciation and Praise
This is probably what every body wants in life. No matter how many times we are appreciated, we still desire to be appreciated every time we perform a task. At the beginning of relationship, you said you loved each other all of the time. But as time goes on, we forget
how awesome the other person is until we think about it. Never underestimate the power of "thank you". Leave subtle comments and heart felt appreciation whenever a task is done
2. Do NOT try to change the person
In relationships, we need to realize we are unique individuals. Often
we are drawn to someone who is completely opposite to us and
after a while we can be tempted to try to change them to be the
same as us. Take a step back and remember why you fell in love
with this person in the first place. There w
ere few criticisms. But as you stay together, you start finding faults and arguments set in. Avoid trying to change the way your partner is, it is annoying.
3. Men are DIFFERENT from women
In his book, Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus, Dr John Gray highlights the differences between men and women. Men are quite busy with many pre-occupations and thinks a lot. They rarely sit down to chat. Their discussions are mainly geared towards areas such as politics, sports, and daily business dealings. When they have a task, they perform it in quietude.
Women , in the other hand talks a lot. Their lives are built on intimate communications and discussions. When they are disturbed, they like to share their experiences through discussions. Women dwell on topics such as love, home building, relationship and about people. Understanding the differences between the opposite sex help in knowing the kind of way to build your relationships without tensions.
4. Sharing Secrets
This is something that goes along with keeping communication open—
do not keep secrets. Not that you have to tell the other person every minute detail about your life, but you should not intentionally keep something that they are supposed to know from them. You know it is a secret that needs
to be shared when you feel even slightly guilty for not telling them.
It will come out eventually and your explanations may be late
5. Temper Control
Human beings are different both psychologically and physically. Some people are ill-tempered, while some can manage their temper with consummate ease. We have different responses to frustrations and partner's constant nagging. When you are annoyed by your partner, the best thing to do is to leave the place, especially if your temper can easily be flared up. Some people who can manage their temper well can even make fun out of the situation
Finally, try to keep the relationship alive. Always remember to keep your partner surprised by doing something they do not expect. Make your relationship romantic and adventurous!
